Traditional African-American churches and South Carolina Synod congregations have been gathering around the Synod for “Holy Listening and Conversations” events, in response to the Charleston shootings in June. Those who gather watch the award-winning movie Selma, and discuss how the events that occurred at that time are still present today. Individuals gather in small groups, participate in Bible study and work to discern next steps for faithful racial reconciliation.
You are invited to the Selma Event in Chapin on Sunday, May 1st at 4pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mt. Horeb and Bethel will be among the Lutheran churches who will gather with members of other churches around the area who will participate in this vital discussion about race relations in our area and the world at large.
