The Interaction Sunday School Class has chosen “Caps of Love” as a project, and we would like to include all of Mt. Horeb members to participate in this worthy cause.
Caps of Love is an American organization based near Palm Beach, Florida. Because plastic caps are seldom accepted for recycling but do have value in bulk, Valarie Mathieu saw the opportunity to raise money by recycling caps, beginning in 2008. 100% of the recycling proceeds are used to provide wheelchairs for needy handicapped children under the age of 21. As of December 16, 2016, Valarie and her volunteers have recycled over 165 tons of plastic caps and have given away 64 wheelchairs.
Acceptable plastic caps/lids include the following for our collection: water, beverages, small medicine caps, laundry detergent, shampoo, and toothpaste, and other small caps.
There is a lady in Chapin who takes the small caps that are collected to her daughter who is a volunteer for this program. We will be giving our collection to her to take to the recycling collection site. There will be a collection container on the Welcome Center. THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING.
