“Fiber Friends” is the new name for the MHLC group of knitters and crocheters that meets on Wednesdays, 9:30 AM, at the Coffee Shelf in downtown Chapin.
This year’s yarn project will benefit Lutheran Services of the Carolinas here in Columbia, specifically the “Strengthening Families” program which addresses the social and emotional needs of children in the Foster Services community.
We have been asked to create thirty (30) hats and scarves for children ages 6-11. These gifts will be donated to Lutheran Services for distribution to the children as they complete a 12-week course of skill support, just in time for the cooler weather of Fall, 2020, and between the time of Halloween and Thanksgiving.
We welcome all knitters and crocheters to join our weekly time of fellowship at the Coffee Shelf as we create with our craft and donate these gifts of love, and we will gladly accept donations from anyone who wishes to participate in this project, even if you cannot physically join us on Wednesdays! (Keep in mind that these hats and scarves are designated for children, and make sure to size accordingly.) Contact Phyllis Barton with any questions at phyllisvanderson@gmail.com
