This coming Sunday is Back to Camp Sunday! In 2020, summer camp was cancelled due to Covid-19, but this year, we are turning our hope to gathering back for s’more, campfires, skits, songs, and faith formation. A study by the American Camp Association (ACA) found significant growth in children’s social-emotional skills after a session of summer camp, including self-esteem, independence, leadership, friendship skills, social comfort, positive values, and decision-making skills.
They reported that 65% of parents said their child gained self-confidence by attending summer camp and 92% of campers said camp helped them feel good about themselves. Campers also shared that camp helped them try things they were first afraid to try and helped them get to know other campers who were different from them.
Have questions about how camp plans to keep campers safe this summer? Have questions about how to register? Visit www.novusway.org to learn more and register someone you love today for a life changing week of camp.
WORK AT CAMP! Those who spent a summer on camp staff will tell you it is the place they considered their vocation, learned leadership skills, and made the best friends of their life. After missing a summer of camp due to covid, our summer camps need our help encouraging young adults to apply to work in this life changing community. If you are or if you know a young adult with gifts for working with children, sharing their faith and leadership, encourage them to consider applying to work at camp this summer. Applications are now open, and they can apply at www.novusway.org.
